About the photo
One of my most successful photos: the “Gorilla”, photographed on his way home after Christopher Street Day in Berlin 2012. I followed the gorilla for a while through the underpasses of Alexanderplatz until he sat down on the steps of the escalators. I ran down the stairs beside him to catch him from the front. Until then, he hadn’t noticed me. One photo, one hit. It was a bit crooked in the original, I admit, I corrected that later.
The Gorilla was widely published and was part of many exhibitions. An earlier – smaller – edition of silkscreen prints sold out quickly and the original photo is available as an open edition. fine art photo print prices

About the print
To celebrate the Gorilla’s 10th anniversary, I thought it would be nice to do a proper large format screen print.
Although I print my own smaller screenprint editions, I wanted this one to be printed to the best possible standards, both in terms of printing and use of inks. I wanted a silver shimmer effect for the first layer (which unfortunately you can’t see online) and a really decent halftone screen for the black layer.
I think Oliver Nerlich Siebdruck did a fantastic job and I’m 150% happy with the results. I hope you are, too.
